Pomegranate Flag

Originally designed in 2018 for a Mimouna celebration hosted by JFREJ (Jews for Racial & Economic Justice), the Pomegranate Flag is designed to in the family of flags related to the Hamsa Flag. 

The pomegranate was chosen as another symbol that connects Jews & Muslims, as well as many other identities, symbolizing, among many other things, abundance, as well as unity within multiplicity.

The Pomegranate Flag is now available for preorder as a hemmed screen print. Flag is 36 x 36 inches. The translation of the phrase "Revolutionary Love" is written in Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, and English.

One inspiration for this flag came from the flag of Granada in 1492, right after the Jews and Moors were expelled from Spain, which was a bleeding pomegranate. The pomegranate on this flag, however, has been made whole (repaired), and its seeds are set free, symbolizing diaspora as well as the seeding of new worlds and new futures, all while maintaining the simple integrity of the central symbol.
